Cancellations & deposits

Safety
All trips are run only when conditions are safe and practical for the vessel, guests and target fishing. The skipper’s decision on whether to proceed, alter the plan or cancel for safety is final.
Online deposit
Online bookings charge a 30% deposit of your booking total by card via Square. Payment confirms the booking automatically — Matt does not need to accept a hold first. The remaining balance is paid on the day by card or cash. Always refer to the deposit amount shown at checkout.
Weather
If Matt cancels due to unsafe or unsuitable weather (including wind, sea state and visibility), your deposit will be applied to a rescheduled date or refunded as agreed with you. Matt aims to give you as much notice as possible and will often touch base around 24 hours before the trip if the forecast is marginal — final calls may be made on the day if conditions change.
Unforeseen circumstances
Events outside anyone’s reasonable control may affect a booking — for example mechanical issues, illness or injury, or regulatory or access restrictions. If Matt must cancel for these reasons, the same approach applies: reschedule where possible or refund of the deposit (or fair portion) as agreed on a case-by-case basis.
Guest cancellations
If you need to cancel or reschedule, contact Matt as early as possible. Refunds of the deposit are at Matt’s discretion and depend on notice and whether the date can be re-sold. As a guide only (not a guarantee):
- More than 7 days before the trip — deposit often transferable or partially refundable.
- Between 48 hours and 7 days — deposit may be forfeited or partially refunded depending on rebooking.
- Less than 48 hours — deposit will often be forfeited unless the date can be filled.
No-show
Failure to attend without notice may result in forfeiture of the deposit and full charter fee where applicable.
